Lost something on Hyderabad Metro? How to report it and prepare a claim
If an item is missing after a Metro journey, start with station customer care. Keep your journey details and a description ready so staff can understand what to look for. A report begins the enquiry; it does not mean the item has been found.
Your quick checklist
0 of 5 completeTick off each step as you go. Checks reset when you leave this page.
1. Use the operator’s lost-property route
The operator’s Customer Service page directs passengers to a Customer Care Centre at any station or to +91 40 2333 2555. The Metro FAQ also points to customer care at station entrances or exits and station security staff for help with missing belongings.
Tell staff whether you last saw the item on a train, platform or elsewhere in the station. If you are unsure, explain that uncertainty rather than selecting a location just to complete the account.
2. Prepare a short, specific report
Use this outline for your notes: “I travelled from [station] towards [station] at about [time] on [date]. I last saw my [item] at [place]. It is [colour, size or model], with [distinctive feature].” Add a carriage or platform detail only if you remember it.
Keep a private copy of what you reported, when you contacted staff and any reference or next step they provide. Ask when and how to follow up. Keep identifying documents and any device serial numbers for the official enquiry rather than posting them in a public appeal. These are preparation suggestions, not a list of mandatory fields.
3. Confirm what to bring before collecting
The lost-and-found instructions say claims require item details, valid identification and supporting documents. Ask staff which documents apply to your item, where to collect it and when the office is available before travelling.
The same page states that found items are held for 90 days and may then be donated. It says important identity documents, including passports and driving licences, are passed to police. Ask the Metro team which authority to contact if your missing item falls into that category.
4. A missing travel ticket is a separate problem
If you lose a token or paper QR ticket during the journey, the operator’s FAQ tells you to approach customer care at your final exit station. Ask staff about the applicable ticketing process and charges; a lost-property enquiry does not replace the exit procedure.
If you find unattended luggage, the same FAQ says not to touch or open it and to inform station security or customer care. For something on the track, contact station staff; do not try to retrieve it yourself.
5. Plan any return visit
Once staff have confirmed the collection location and arrangements, use our Hyderabad commute guide to check the full journey, including the station exit and last mile. Keep the contact details and instructions available during the trip.
